Crown Block
Heavy-Duty Drilling Rig Crown Block Assembly
The crown block is a critical component mounted at the top of the drilling derrick or mast. It consists of multiple sheaves (pulleys) mounted on a common frame that supports the drilling line. Working together with the traveling block, the crown block forms the pulley system that provides mechanical advantage for lifting and lowering the drill string, casing, and other drilling equipment.
